Ready for Transport; Chicago O’hare Terminal Tunnel
by John Rogers on Feb.12, 2010, under Architectural Photography, Architecture, Illinois, Travel
This is an another photo taken while waiting through a three hour layover at the Chicago O’hare airport. You can see another photo I did in the tunnel (here).
Ahhh…. if only the airlines would work this hard to make flying a pleasurable experience…

Welcome to Visualist Images Photography, Austin Texas!
My name is John R. Rogers. I'm a professional photographer in Austin Texas with over 20 years of experience photographing, videotaping, & filming everything from portraits & weddings, to national television commercials & fine art prints. It was Auguste Renoir, who said, 'To my mind a picture should be something pleasant, cheerful and pretty. Yes, pretty! There are too many unpleasant things in life as it is without creating still more of them'. I love making photographs that present the person, place or thing in the most pleasant, cheerful & pretty light possible. Please contact me if you would like to hire my talents to provide that service to you. And yes, I love to travel so I will be happy to travel to what ever location you desire. Many of my images are available as gift cards & framed or unframed prints. In addition to my blog, please be sure to check out my galleries below;

Wow John I really, really love this! The colors and leading lines are just perfect. It would go perfectly in my living room.
I’m surprised the powers that be actually let you take this. Did you get hassled for photographing anything in the airport?
Beautiful work as always,
Dawn Fry

This is a phenomenal photo! How did you get this shot with no people in it?
I love this tunnel when I’ve had enough sleep. When I haven’t, it really plays with my head.

Thank you for the comments!
Dawn, (so far) I have not had any trouble with the TSA. I just keep moving & ignore them.
Mona, Hub airports like ORD (and virtually every thing else in life…) work in cycles or banks. Therefore, every few minutes the tunnel would be very crowded, then it would be fairly empty for a bit. By shooting in a slow time and using very long exposures to eliminate any people that were not standing still I was able to give the impression of an empty space.

I’m so impressed. I didn’t know you could do that. This is one of my favorite photos of yours. Beautiful work.

John, from a fellow photograper– fantastic work! I’m always anxious about setting up a tripod in the middle of an airport to take photos like this, but– no more. Thanks for the inspiration! Absolutely beautiful.
