by John Rogers on Jun.10, 2009, under Architecture, Austin Texas, HDR, Texas, Texas Buildings, Travel, Visualist Images
If you are ever in Austin Texas & looking to duck in out of the Texas heat, check out the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. It’s tucked between the University of Texas campus and the Texas State Capitol on Congress Avenue. With three stories of interactive exhibits and an IMAX theater it’s a great place to duck inside and spend a bit of time exploring. While you are at the museum, check out the gift shop & pick up one of my photo gift cards.
Butchart Garden Stairway
by John Rogers on Jun.08, 2009, under Architecture, Canada, HDR, Travel
I want my garden to look like this! Around 100 years ago Jennie Butchart, the wife of a Portland Cement magnate, decided to turn their exhausted quarry pit into a sunken garden. The original garden was completed in 1921 Today, over a million bedding plants a year are used throughout the gardens and over a million visitors visit Butchart Gardens annually. It’s well worth the trip.
White Sands & Purple Mountains
by John Rogers on Jun.04, 2009, under HDR, New Mexico, Travel
When I was photographing White Sands National Monument in New Mexico, there were certainly no “fruited plains”. However, a thunder storm passed to the west of the Big Brushy Mountains creating beautiful “purple mountains majesties” & a wonderful dark blue sky to contrast with the very white sands.
Does anybody know what the small red & white poles sticking out of the sand are for? (You may have to look at the original size to see them.)
