Earth Day Sunset; 2011.
It seemed quite apropos to be photographing these mammoth machines on Earth day. The only sound was the quiet whhhaaa….. whhhaaaa…whhaaaa…. as the giant blades turned above me and the sun sank below the horizon. It was one of those awe inspiring moments that truly gives you hope.

Hico WayStation, Blacksmith Shop Cabin Thing

Ok, I really have no idea what this is. A Google search found another image where the photographer thought perhaps it was a WayStation. In any case I like the feel of the structure. It looks old. It looks like it’s older than me, & I like things older than me because in perspective, they make me look young. Although you would not know it because of the blurred traffic blocking the other side of the street, it’s actually across the street from the Jersey Lilly that I photographed that same evening. You can see that image here.
Eiffel Tower Sunset over the Seine
by John Rogers on Oct.25, 2009, under France, HDR, Paris, Travel
A light rain was starting to fall in Paris as we were hurrying to the Lourve for a private tour. (That’s another amazing story, and it was no doubt the highlight of our visit to Paris.) As we were crossing the river, a wonderful orange glow was settling behind the Eiffel Tower and Paris’ oldest bridge ‘The Pont Neuf’ or “new bridge” (built 1578-1607). My companions were quite patient while I set up my camera for a few shots before continuing on. You can see where there was a bit of rain on the lens, however, I’m still glad we paused for a few moments to try and capture the beautiful scene above the Seine.
