Autumn Leaves on the North Carolina Back Roads
by John Rogers on Nov.10, 2011, under HDR, North Carolina, Rural America, Travel
Recently Beverly & I drove the North Carolina back roads in search of shots of beautiful Autumn leaves. Not too far from Chimney Rock NC we rounded a curve and found these horses grazing in the pasture framed by a beautiful Autumn canopy.
Crimson Carpet of Autumn Leaves
by John Rogers on Nov.17, 2009, under HDR, Texas, Travel
I Love Autumn with all it’s colors. I love the cool Breezes, the scent of a distant fireplace & leaves of crimson & gold carpeting the ground. Ahhh… you would think I was in New England. Or perhaps, Lost Maples State Park in Texas. You may have observed by my photography that I really like brilliant colors. They just make me happy. What can I say, I love color. Don’t get me wrong, few things can capture a somber of serious mood like a well executed black & white photograph. However, when I want to convey joy or happiness, give me the big box of Crayolas with lot’s of color.
Golden Aspens across the Glacial Stream
by John Rogers on Oct.10, 2009, under HDR, Montana
Just south of Glacier National Park there is a stream that parallels Highway 2. The Aspens on it’s banks were changing to their golden fall colors when we were there providing a nice contrast to red rocks in the crystalline water. THe weather was a perfect as it appears. It would have been nice to have a few nice poofty white clouds to break up that bright blue sky, but hey… I’m not complaining.
Reaching for Autumn
by John Rogers on Sep.10, 2009, under HDR, Texas, Travel
According to my iPhone it’s 75 degrees outside, and it’s raining. Those are two wonderful things in Austin Texas where we have just experienced the hottest, driest, summer on record. Perhaps (probably) it’s my imagination, but I can taste the slightest hint of Autumn & I can’t wait. I’m ready to sleep with the windows open & feel the trepidation of slipping out from underneath the warm blankets in the early morning. I’m ready to pull on a sweater & light a fire in the fireplace. And, I’m ready to go on my annual pilgrimage seeking out the colors of Autumn. Last year there was a beautiful display of color at the Lost Maples State Park in the Texas hill country. Here is another image from that trip. Any suggestions where I should go this year?
