Austin Skyline from the Long Center
by John Rogers on Jan.05, 2010, under Architectural Photography, Architecture, Austin Texas
One of my favorite views of the Austin Skyline is from the large patio in front of the Long Center for the Performing Arts. (Preferably with a glass of wine during the intermission of a performance.) The arc surrounding the patio provides a perfect frame to the city. Unfortunately the format of my website doesn’t really do a panorama justice. In fact, typically I tend to find myself shooting more ‘portrait format’ (tall and skinny vs. short & wide) images simply because they allow me to show a larger image on the page.
The Ever Changing Austin Skyline
by John Rogers on Jan.02, 2010, under Austin Texas, Texas Buildings
This view of the Austin Skyline was photographed in late 2009. Although I grew up in Austin the skyline has changed so much that I find in this view it’s hardly recognizable. You can see the University of Texas Tower lit up with the #1 on the left side of the image. The Capitol building is completely obscured by all the new towers. I did take a little license and remove a few cranes from the photo to hurry along the never ending construction.

Close up of UT Tower etc…
