This award winning print (1st place in a photo competition at the local Professional Photographers Association guild.) is from a session I did awhile ago of a couple of adorable cousins. Obviously much of the award credit goes to the handsome dude model! I love photographing families and babies. Although I am really known for my commercial fine art prints, there is nothing quite like creating custom artwork for families that they can enjoy for generations.

A previous client returned last month to get a few updated images. Our previous shoot was in an urban setting so we thought we would do something different for this session. Denise put on her cowboy boots & jeans and we shot in local park that still had some color in the trees. (One advantage of shooting in Texas is the leaves don’t really drop till late December.) The shoot was tons of fun & Denise ended up with some great images to update her portfolio.

I recently had the opportunity to shoot some portraits of Rose along with her family. As an Austin photographer I have the opportunity to shoot everything, including Austin stock images, Austin commercial photography, family portraits baby portraits & senior portraits. It’s all fun and I love the opportunity to make each of them look their very best. Of course when you have a subject like Rose, my job is pretty easy!
Ok, I know its not Valentine’s Day, but looking at Jena in her red dress just sorta makes you feel like it should be. This is another portrait from her last session here. I love it when I have the opportunity to get some totally different looks in a two hour session. This one more fun & the last one I posted was a much more classic look. (You can see the previous post here.)
This pose would also make a great Christmas card!

I had the opportunity to photograph these adorable cousins a couple of days ago. He is eight months old & she is six months. I’m not sure exactly what he is telling her but she was smiling!
It’s amazing how fast a 6 month old can move. With infants this age it’s great to have pro studio lights (in this case I setup in their home) that allow me to shoot really fast because every second these two had a different adorable expression.
As a side note; I’m actually doing this post from 38,000 feet flying to Seattle on our way to Fairbanks. Pretty cool technology!

I was quite pleased to be able to spend a bit more time working on Jena’s portfolio before she heads off to LA at the end of this week. (You can see images from her last session here & here.) This time I brought her inside & put her under the studio lights for a slightly more “classic” look. We did several different setups & we got a number of great images from each. It was tough deciding which image to post today. I guess I was just in the mood for a bit of purple.

I did a posting a few days ago with a portrait of Jessica’s roommate Jena, stating how I was hoping to be able to do another session with them before they leave for LA at the end of this month. Well, I got my wish. I did a two hour session with Jessica a few days ago & I am doing one with Jena on Friday. For this session I thought we would do a couple of looks that are completely different from each other and from our previous retro looking session. We got a bunch of great images but I thought I just post one of each look for now. (You can see another great photo from the retro session here.) I believe we succeeded nicely. I am quite happy with how all three of these totally different yet great looks for Jessica turned out. Best of luck in Hollywood!

Wow, what a smile! Actually, with Jena to title this post “Jena’s Smile” is somewhat redundant. Jena is pretty much always smiling. She tends to brighten any room with her infectious smile. This is another photo of Jena from the portrait shoot we did when the classic cars were in town. I am trying to arrange time to do another session with Jena and her roommate Jessica before they leave for the lights of LA at the end of this month. Wish me luck!

This past weekend the Lonestar Rod & Kustom Car roundup was in town. With all those beautiful cars in town I could not pass up the opportunity to make use of them as a backdrop for a few portraits. I called upon a friend of mine that is about to graduate from the University of Texas Drama department. Jena brought along her roommate Jessica who just graduated from the UT drama department. This is Jessica looking quite stunning in front of a red ’32 convertible. I’ll post more shots later where you can actually see the cars, Jessica just stole the focus in this one. Such a tough life I have; wonderful locations, beautiful women & cool cars. I love my job.

Children’s Portraits can be fun! They can be especially fun if the children can be doing what they want to do verses asking them to sit still & smile. Holly & Maddison were great! I wanted them to have fun & play, and they did a spectacular job of both. I just took a few images while they had fun. As it turned out we all had fun & ended up with some pretty adorable portraits in the process.
