ROT Rally Revisited (Wild Ostrich)

I shoot a lot of HDR or High Dynamic Range photography. It’s a technique where you combine different exposures to expand the limited dynamic range of ‘normal’ photography . Sometimes I’m somewhat subtle in my application & sometimes I’m not so subtle… I will often layer in a tiny bit for backgrounds in portraits just to give them a bit more ‘pop’

There is nothing subtle about a chromed out custom motorcycle. They are often loud & in your face. So, to me, a bit of an ‘in your face’ technique seems to work . If you want a portrait of your bike that does it justice, give me a call. I’m not cheap, but the good stuff rarely is. This photo was taken at the ROT Rally in Austin Texas. You can see some more ROT photos here.

Republic of Texas Rally, continued…

I had too much fun at the 2009 ROT rally. Ok, as they say, there is no such thing as too much fun, but I did take a lot of fun photos. Since the rally is still in Austin for a few more hours, I thought I’d take the opportunity to post one more ROT rally photo. I can’t really decide if I prefer yesterday’s photo or todays. I’d love to read your comments. This one is showing a small portion of the bikes that were on Congress Avenue in downtown Austin.

ROT Biker Rally '09 Congress Ave

ROT Biker Rally, Austin Texas

This time every year 40,000 or so bikers descend upon Austin Texas. The streets are alive with the sound of “potatopotatopotato…” I love it. Tonight they closed the downtown streets to cars & only pedestrians & motorcycles were allowed. Thousands, & thousands of motorcycles. What a great opportunity to get out my camera.

I just did some test prints & they look great! Contact me if you are interested in a copy.
