This portrait of my beautiful wife Beverly was shot quite literally “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay”. This was shot one evening as a storm rolled in while we were vacationing on the Chesapeake Bay. (Vs. the San Francisco Bay that Otis Redding was talking about in his classic song). None the less, the scene (and the woman) were quite beautiful as she sat “just watching the tide roll away”.
If you find yourself driving through Hog Island Maryland, keep an eye out for the “Hog Island Birdhouse Man” He came out of his house as I was walking through his front yard to take this photograph. He was quite a nice man and every bit the character you would expect from seeing his lawn.
Every few years my wife’s family plans a week long family vacation. They rent a nice large house and all the Straub family meet up and spend a week together. This week we are near Cambridge MD enjoying a house on Chesapeake Bay. It’s actually a wonderful time. Each evening one couple is in charge of preparing a fine dinner for the 13 of us and cleaning up afterward allowing the remainder of us to relax until it’s our evening to cook. So far the food and the company have been great. Truly this week has been what a vacation is supposed to be. The only complaint has been the bazillion mosquitos. I belive tomorrow morning the plan is to saddle up a few and go for a ride.
