I recently did some additional photography for the Paramount Theatre in Austin Texas. I love this place! This is actually an HDR panorama to try and capture as much of the theatre a possible from the front center stage position. It was shot as multiple images with my 14mm lens and then stitched together. Normally, I would have been able to get the whole room with the 14-24 lens by just backing up a bit. However, the theatre had a large projection screen in place for a summer film series which forced me to the front of the stage. Creating the image this way caused a bit more of a ‘fisheye’ effect which I believe works well for this grand historical theatre.

You can see my other photographs of the Austin Paramount Theater here.

These are aircraft that spent the night at ABIA airport in Austin Texas and are ready to start work as the sun is about to rise.
Although I am a full time photographer, I also work part time for an unnamed airline (guess…). Some days I am greeting customers in my white shirt and tie, and on many days I’m working the ramp in my ‘village people’ outfit and get to watch the sun rise while towing the aircraft to the gates so all those travelers can fly to where they want or need to be. I’ve always been like a kid around airplanes so while the work is sometimes hard, for me the hours are short and for the virtual donation of my time I can fly pretty much any where in the world for less than the cost of a good dinner out.

It’s hard to believe how much of this stuff it takes to make the curtains, lights, scenery etc. apparently effortlessly fly in and out as needed during a performance. In reality, there is a crew working up here pulling on a lot of rope to make it happen.

Almost twenty three thousand runners & walkers hit the streets this year for the Capitol 10k. A decade or so ago my son & I started running the 10k, then when his unit at Texas A&M started running it, I became their ‘official’ photographer. Although Matt graduated a couple of years ago, I still get the privilege of photographing the Aggies from his unit during their traditional run. This year I was fortunate to be able to photograph the runners as they made their way up Congress Ave from the Austonian building. Can you imagine being able to actually wake up every morning with this view of the Austin skyline out your window? Amazing.

As a photographer that sells photos for licensing & stock as well as fine art prints, I’m always looking for a new image of the Austin Skyline. I know this location has been used by many photographers in the past to capture Austin but this is actually my first. In fact the night I shot this another photographer was doing a portrait session at the same location. In any case, here is my latest ‘take’ on looking at Austin from this particular spot. I’l be revisiting this location again soon when I can capture some nice golden clouds above the city
As always, if you enjoy my work, please comment. And of course licensing is available for commercial use as well as beautiful art prints and canvas wraps.

I’ve photographed the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue in Austin Texas several times & every time I’m there, someone has left a gift for Stevie on the base. Last time it was a red rose, this time it was a guitar pick lying at his feet. Perhaps these are simply a reflection on the live music scene that Austin Texas is so well known for, and therefore should not surprise me, nevertheless I find these little tokens quite touching.

The Frost bank building in Austin Texas looks pretty tall until you view it from the top of the new Austonian. A resident of the Austonian that recently acquired one of my Austin art images was kind enough to allow me into his home to see my art displayed in these amazing surroundings. While I was visiting he also arranged a tour for me to scout locations for a future Austin skyline image. Now I’m just waiting for the scaffolding to be removed from the Capitol building so I can shoot a series of new Austin skyline photographs that show off the views afforded the fortunate residents of this amazing space.
