Mr. John Taylor (his family calls him ‘Pops’) has spent his life working a ranch that his grandfather settled in the late 1800′s. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to photograph him on his land. (I actually photographed him at a hotel.) So I placed him on a ranch I had previously shot. This technique also works great when photographing corporate clients. It takes far less time (and money) than taking the client out to a remote location.

Flying the Friendly Skies

Here is another in a personal project series on United Airlines.

United Airlines had one of the truly great ad slogans of all time. After all, most people over 20 can complete the sentence; “Fly the friendly skies of …”.
I believe it struck a chord with the American psyche because almost above all else, humans want to connect. People want a pleasant ‘friendly’ experience regardless of their endeavor, but especially when they travel. The bottom line is happy employees, make friendly employees & friendly employees make customers want to return.
This is Andy. He is a Service Director and spends most of his days on the ramp gently loading thousands of pounds of luggage on to aircraft destined for far away locations. And although he works very hard, he is virtually always smiling. Just what you would expect from ‘The Friendly Skies’ of United.

Still the Friendly Skies; ‘Finny’

Sunset over the Arno & Ponte Vecchio; Florence Italy

One of the classic sights in Florence (or Firenze if you are Italian) Italy would have to be the Ponte Vecchio bridge over the Arno River. I was fortunate to have had a beautiful sky complete with shafts of light leading your eye to the famous bridge in the distance.

2011 Lone Star Rod & Kustom Roundup Hot Rod

Yesterday & went & hung out with a friend, and a few thousand strangers and shot lots of photos of a ton of amazing cars at the annual Austin Lone Star Rod & Kustom Car Roundup. So many amazing creations. The Hot Rod in the photo and the car in the background were both custom built by Boerne Stage out of Boerne Tx. Truly Amazing. I had the great pleasure earlier this week to shoot engagement photos for Mary & Johnathon. I flew up to Stillwater Oklahoma for a quick session and had a blast. I’ll be posting more photos of this adorable couple soon.

Texas Wildflowers; Bluebonnets and Rust

Last weekend we went on a wildflower quest and drove the country roads east of San Antonio Texas. I believe we may have been just past peak for that area but we did find some nice spots. My favorite was this field with various rusty farm implements surrounded by fields of bluebonnets.

It’s springtime in Texas and it looks like it’s going to be a great season for wildflowers. Last year was pretty dismal due to the extreme drought we are going through. However, lots of February rain is bringing March flowers… You can see more of my wildflower photographs here.

Capitol 10K Runners, Congress Ave, Austin Texas

The Capitol 10k is being run this Sunday in Austin Texas & I’m more than a little disappointed that I won’t be available to join in the festivities. This photo was taken last year not too far from the start on Congress Avenue. If you know any long time participants in the Capitol 10K, I’m sure they would enjoy an art print on canvas or metal of this or another great shot of this Austin Tradition that you can see here.
