My favorite hotel in Austin Texas is the Driskill Hotel on 6th Street. If you find yourself in downtown Austin and want a nice quiet bar just a few feet from the night time party mayhem of Sixth street, check out this place. You can see some more of my images of the Driskill Hotel (here).
Sunset over the Historic Driskill Hotel in Austin Texas

In the heart of the Austin Texas 6th Street music scene stands one of my favorite hotels in the world. In some ways it’s sort of a shame it’s in my home town because I have to come up with a pretty good excuse to spend the night there when I could just as easily be spending the night in my own bed. (Fortunately my wedding anniversary provides a great justification.) In any case they have a wonderful quiet bar that exudes all the class you would expect from an elegant old hotel. It provides a great reprise from the din of 6th street after a downtown photo session. (You can also see some interior photos from a previous post here.)
A Wonderful evening at the Historic Driskill Hotel

My wife & I spent last night at the historic Driskill Hotel in Austin Texas. When Beverly & I married six years ago we spent our wedding night in one of theDriskill’s wonderful balcony rooms so I decided it would be a great way to spend our anniversary. I love old historic hotels. Those that have been following my blog may remember my post about the Boulderado Hotel in Boulder Colorado. Walking down the halls I easily transport myself into the lives of those that have walked those same hallways for so many decades. The Driskill is like walking into a giant old time machine. Every where you look the craftmanship & service have the polish & detail you rairly find these days. I need to make our reservation for next August.
